WWII General Homma Commemorative NCO/Enlisted Medal

This medal was awarded by General Homma to his troops that took part in the invasion of the Phillipines, since no official medal was struck for the event despite the general’s request for a campaign medal. The obverse features a Japanese soldier looking over Manila Bay while the reverse has palm trees and a poetry verse written by Homma. This is the copper version of the medal struck over a Phillipine coin, it was awarded to nco/enlisted men. There is an officers version struck from silver peso coins however in my experience the enlisted version is infinitely rarer.
