Japanese Army Mosquito Hood

WWII tropical mosquito hood was a piece of equipment given to the soldiers by the army to protect them from insects and mosquitoes in hot climates. The hood had a round cloth top, so it could fit over different types of headwear, such as helmets, caps or hats. The hood also had netting all around it, which kept the insects away from the head and face and allowed the soldier to see well. The hood could be closed at the bottom with ties or a draw string, to make sure no insects could get inside. Some hoods had a date stamp from the Showa era, but others did not have any markings.
